Everything tastes better with truffle, right? This weekend (August 12-14), Spotswood dining precinct Grazeland is celebrating the decadent winter fungi with a truffle festival.
From truffled raclette to shao long bao, there are plenty of delicious adventures at the unique waterside food mecca.
Grazeland’s managing director John Foreman took one for the team and did a taste test for Five of the Best. Here are John’s top five truffly dishes at this weekend’s inaugural festival.
1. Truffled raclette from Frencheese
Frencheese is serving up the Swiss delicacy of raclette. The melted Gouda cheese and boiled potatoes has a delicious flavour and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. It’s also a favourite among my kids.

2. Black Truffle Shao Long Bao from Lucky Little Dumplings
Lucky Little Dumplings is a fan favourite on a normal day at Grazeland. The truffle overtone in this special bao adds another layer to these dumplings, making them simply amazing and what I can assume will be a sell out this weekend .

3. Seared Scallops with black truffle butter, wild mushroom & sea herbs from Claw & Tail
Delicate and refined, this is without a doubt the best scallop I have ever had. The truffle butter and scallop are a match made in heaven in my opinion. I’m very much looking forward to another round of these this weekend.

4. Pappardelle with Creamy Mushroom Sauce with Shaved Truffle from Pasta E Basta
Pasta E Basta will serve up perfectly cooked pasta with a silky, decadent creamy mushroom sauce, topped with a fresh shaving of truffle, creating aromas that will have you salivating the minute you walk in the gates.
5. Truffled croissant for dessert by Pierrick Boyer
This famous dessert is from acclaimed pastry chef Pierrick Boyer, who bakes an incredible croissant, fills it with custard, tops it with a truffle chocolate ganache and sharves fresh truffle over the top. Pierrick’s dessert is my first experience with a truffle dessert and I was pleasantly surprised and amazed at how good it is. You will be too.
